A shrine that sinks to the ocean once a day.
Location: Itsukushima, Hiroshima, Japan
Date: 28 Dec 2018
Camera: Canon EOS M5, RICOH Theta V
Lens: EF-M18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM, SAMYANG 8mm F3.5 FISH-EYE LENS
I made a photo album at the end of this page which has photos that are not listed on this gallery. Some of the photos are also available at Adobe Stock and Shutterstock.

You can access to the nearest station by train, but the access to the Itsukushima island is limited with the ferry. It was a early morning with snow. Very cold morning, but the sunrise was splendid.

When the tide is low, you can walk to the shrine gate from shrine. I was very luck to access there in the best timing. But, when the tide is high, the ferry goes close to the gate, so you can take photos over the sea.

Remember this board. It says "Do not take shellfish inside the gate".

Let's get into the shrine. Entrance fee is 500 yen with museum, and you can enter twice in a day.
Why twice? Just keep reading the following ^^

Behind the shrine is a mountain named "Misen(弥山)". You can also walk to the top, but I chose a cable car to enjoy the Pacific ocean view.

There are a observation deck and a temple (not shrine) at the top of the mountain. You need to walk to the temple about 20 mins from the cable car station.

There are also Kawaii statues waiting for you!!

Have a lunch at the cable car station. Curry udon noodle.
---> to be continued to Part 2. Thank you!!
