Autumn is my favourite season in Japan, moderate climate to go out, beautiful mountain scenery with coloured leaves and tasty foods!
Shosenkyo(昇仙峡)is a famous mountains for hiking. Tourist info provides us the official hiking route on their web page, which includes the river side route, cable car to the top and beautiful dam lake. You can also walk the whole route, but you can access to the cable car station by car or by city buses. If the weather is good, you can view the peak of Mt Fuji from the cable car station.
I made a photo album at the end of this page which has photos that are not listed on this gallery. Some of the photos are also available at Adobe Stock and Shutterstock.

Autumn! River! Mountain! What a awesome combination for hiking and photo-walking! I got into this area the day before, slept in a car and visited this area in a very early morning. I walked around this area along with the trekking route on the official tourist info, and you can walk through the river side in about 2 hours from parking lot to cable car station.
I don't mind if a traveller is on my photo, but one of the good things of morning photo walk is that you can easily take photos with no people around the famous photo spots. Autumn is the best photo season for scenery, but I don't like making a queue to take totally the same photos with someone next to me.
The rocky mountain in a vertical photo above is a popular view point in Shosenkyo. It looks like a valley in forest in China.

Soon after getting off the cable car, you can access the observation deck at the top of the Shosenkyo mountain and see the coloured mountains lying beneath your sight. If you are luck enough, you can also see the top of Mt Fuji.
The 360 degree photo is from a top of a large stone in a mountain. The scenery from the stone is marvelous, but no fence or ropes are equipped to protect you. Mind your steps!

After getting back to the parking lot, I also visited a shrine and lake at north of the cable car station. No city buses are running to this area, and it would take about 1 hour to climb the hill. I went to these sites to get a Goshuin(御朱印)and a Dam Card for my collection purpose, but the autumn mountains reflected on the surface of the lake was beautiful.
